pH

pH is the measure of the acidity and alkalinity of water. A pH level less than the desired range of 6.5 to 8.5 Units is considered to be acidic. Acidic water is not harmful to your health alone. However, acidic water can cause pinhole leaks in copper plumbing and blue/green staining on pipes and in sinks, tubs and toilets. Acidic water can also leech lead off of the soldering in copper plumbing and also in copper or brass faucet fixtures. Caswell Testing can also collect water samples to be tested for lead in water. (There is a preparation of the faucet that must be done 6-to 18 hours before sample collection for lead testing.)

A neutralizer is the recommended treatment used to keep pH in the desired range. If you already have a neutralizer and your pH is still low, the neutralizer most likely needs to be serviced.
